Junior Boys’ Team Sparring (N-111) 110
The real excitement seemed to be the elimination of two teams from the final four. Team VKA made up of Texas and Mexico surprised Team FX made of Carolina and Virginia by a single point in the match after trailing the entire match (18-17). Team GOP on the other hand, made up of Texas and South Carolina trailed the entire match and came within one point of a tieing Team Dumlao’s California team (17-16). The Grand Finale match-up lacked the luster of the eliminations as Team VKA fell behind early and never could regain the momentum to draw the same excitement from the crowd.

Junior Girls’ Team Sparring (N-112) 111
The junior girls’ team emulated the boys for eliminations excitement as Team Strike Force of Carolina and Virginia kept the score within three points of Dumlao’s California team for the entire match. But they came up short by three points in the end (19-16). Meanwhile, GOP made up of gals from England, Texas and Rhode Island, kept it close with Team Unity of Virginia and Carolina until the last match where GOP took off to win (26-19). While Team Dumlao took the lead in the Finale over GOP, 7 to 4, it was short lived as GOP came back with a vengeance stomping Dumlao’s 22 to 12 for the final score.

Men’s Team Sparring (N-113) 112
Likewise to the juniors, the men’s semi-finals were tense close matches. Schumann’s, made up of Guatemalans, eked by GOP who used Texas, Mexico and Oregon team members, by a mere point (14-13), in a tight match where two of the three individual rounds were left tied. On the other end of the bracket, Team Straight-up comprising talent from Florida and Michigan got past DDX’s Caifornia players by four points (26-22). The Grand Finale pitted Staright-up against Schumann’s where the intensity and drama far outpaced the scoring. The final tally left Straight-up as the 2007 world title team.
